Aurora Greenway (Shirley McClaine) and her daughter Emma (Deborah Winger) couldn’t be more different, which doesn’t diminish the love between them, but boy does it often find them at odds wth one another, especially when it comes to Emma’s philandering and aptly named husband, Flap (Jeff Daniels).
Follow them through their ups and downs, and through Aurora’s reluctant and humorous courtship with her charming and irascible neighbor, Garrett Breedlove (also aptly named), a former astronaut and ladies man! This film earned Oscars for Shirley McClaine, Jack Nicholson, and director James L. Brooks.
